
Born in 1983 in Tucumán, Argentina, Pablo Briones is a film director, film editor and cinematographer based in Geneva, Switzerland.
During his film studies at Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, he was curator for the Cineclub La Quimera & Agencia Córdoba Cultura. Whilst taking a master’s degree in film at ECAL/HEAD, he directed À BEIRA DE LISBOA (Silver Award ZINEBI’55) and A BARCA, a dyptich of short essay films that screened at festivals including Visions du Réel, Jihlava and IndieLisboa.
In 2016 he takes part of a workshop in Cuba with Abbas Kiarostami, where he directed PEZCAL (Best Workshop Film) screened at Locarno, Oberhausen and Havana among others.
His debut feature film BARACOA screened at Berlinale 69 (Best Doc Award nomination), Locarno, CPH:DOX and won the Youth Award at Sheffield Doc/Fest and the Audience Award at Málaga Film Festival.
